Happy new year everyone, I hope all is well with you and your family and loved ones.. Now.. I have to bitch a little about the local pro puck pushers.
With the Montreal Canadiens coming of a not so lovely win before basically no break new years; my expectations for the first game of the year at home was not so high. Yet while watching the game today at the Bell centre it occured to me the Habs still seem to have the same problem the team continues to have despite some factors that would otherwise rule against it.
problem 1 : A team stacked with D ; the Habs still seem to always have a liabililty Dman who will just be plain sloppy and not with the tempo of the game giving bad teams chances in our zone. Tonight it was Jaroslav Spacek and Hall Gill both seeming like they were stuck in another time zone tonight.
problem 2 : 49 shots in 3 periods and they were almost all good chances. The concept of shoot more, score more does not seem to be settling in with the fowards. Sniper Cammerlleri even missed some prime chances to seal the deal. I`d say it was almost 2 chances of open net or clear shot for each forward; yet the Habs could not finish - not saying that the Atlanta Thrashers can`t thank Ondrej Pavelec for the win.. 47 saves is a busy night for any netminder.. but what happened to Puilot, Halpern, Darche ? ( dont get me started on Gomez)
I just worry that down the streach if these 2 main problems are not addressed then its going to be a rough ride into a playoff spot this year. I am just boggled that with all these D the only 2 guys signed next year to come back are PK Subban and Jaroslav Spacek... the rest is an open book..
